        Picture

WeatherSteel is a trade name of Blackwood Associates, Inc. for a cladding
product generally known as Weathering Steel (although more commonly
referred to by the US Steel tradename *COR-TEN® Steel). WeatherSteel is
also frequently called the “Rusty Metal” or “Rusty Steel”. Call it whatever
you like, but technically it is cold rolled steel conforming to ASTM specification
A-606 Type 4 and A588 for the heavier thicknesses. WeatherSteel develops a
dense oxide that results in a rustic finish when exposed to the atmosphere. It is
a natural material resulting in a functional but unusual cladding that is available
in a variety of profiles including Corrugated, Standing Seam, Batten Rib,
Bermuda panel, Fulsh panel, FlatSeam and various custom specialty shapes
that will provide years of service and continue to enhance itself naturally as it ages.
The unique composition of WeatherSteel includes several corrosion resistant alloys
including copper, nickel and chromium. Oil canning or waviness, which is often prevalent
in other types of light gauge metal cladding, is virtually nonexistent in WeatherSteel
because of the thickness of this material and its non-reflective surface.

We now offer WeatherSteel in thicknesses up to 1" thick plate. We also have limited pre-weathered corrugated material available for interior applications, dry climates or where immediate weathering is desired. Whether you are looking for a large quantity or just a couple of sheets, we've got you covered! We also offer custom profiles, so if you don't see what you are looking for, just ask.

        Developing Color
WeatherSteel initially has a grey, cold rolled steel appearance which changes to a reddish brown color upon exposure to moisture. It takes approximately three years to reach its ultimate color potential. Natural moisture like rainfall, dew and fog initiates the weathering process. Over time, the weathering will be fairly uniform, although different locations and elevations can exhibit a variable appearance that is not a defect in the product, but rather one of it’s features.

        Naturally Appealing & Versatile
If you want a unique product for your roofing or siding, consider the natural appearance of WeatherSteel.
